Thank you for buying this limited edition EP.

The Bury Me Alive EP started out as a collaboration between myself and film composer Joe Hastings. We set about recording in Joe’s house studio in Crouch End, laying down some acoustics and experimenting with instruments and sound. Sam Butterworth added some delicate piano on certain tracks and Nick Hornsey laid down some lap steel. With the tracks in an interesting place, we then went into Urchin Studios to record strings with Laura Moody, Mandhira De Saram, Richard Jones and with Dan Cox engineering. The recording palette was rich with colour, but as recordings they were still quite raw and quite a way from being completed.
Unfortunately around this point I ran out of funds and was unable to complete the recording in London.

I called my good friend David Glover, a hugely talented producer, musician, mixer and engineer, who lives and works in Sheffield from Tesla Studios. I had not worked with David on any tracks before this recording but as soon as the sessions started I realised we were going somewhere special, completely new, and exciting with the recordings. David brought in Adam Crofts on Drums, my brother Matthew Taylor on Piano and Rebecca Van Cleave on Vocals. We soon had the band sound we needed to merge with the soundscape I had created whilst with Joe in London.

This was a very different EP to the last one I had made in Redkite Studios in Wales and it took a lot longer to reach the point we felt we needed to get it to. Some of the London costs were prohibitive but we managed to create an EP created around two towns, London and Sheffield. This EP went on a journey of it’s own.
